Helping Teens Discover Their Identity in a Questioning World
Presented by: Sid Koop
The most significant question our students are asking is the question of identity…who am I?
Culture tells them to first “look in”, then around and maybe finally up in order to affirm whatever identity their emotions have chosen for themself. This process leaves our students fragile, insecure, self protective and ultimately without freedom.
The Gospel flips the cultural script on it’s head. The Gospel calls us to look up, than around and finally in, to figure out what needs to be re-ordered to align with the identity God has given to us…the identity we have been created for. This is freedom.
How do we build our youth ministry so that it helps students discover who they actually are…and embrace the resilient, loving, and freedom giving identity they have been made for.

Faith Beyond Youth Group: ReFocusing Youth Ministry
Presented by: Chuck Hunt
Location: TBD
Most typical youth ministries today produce nice, obedient kids who behave themselves—and then leave the church and the faith.
Even those who remain struggle to extend their own faith beyond youth group. They seem like "good kids," but their lives and decisions outside youth group aren't oriented toward Jesus.
Clearly, that is not our goal.
This session will help your ministry refocus by identifying the reasons youth ministry often fails, both short-term and long-term. We will discuss five ways adult youth leaders can navigate the faith journey with young people to inspire a lifetime of growing closer to Jesus rather than drifting away.
