Walking with Friends in Crisis

Being a loyal, trusted, caring friend is one of the greatest privileges on earth, but it comes with some big responsibilities as well…especially when our friends are going through painful, difficult, and challenging circumstances in their lives. Sometimes the weight of their struggles is hard for us to carry. The situation can be complicated, confusing, and even “life-and-death” at times.
What do we do when a friend confides a deep destructive secret to us? How should we respond when we see someone we care about making harmful choices that will do great damage? How can we support a friend whose family is falling apart around them? How do we walk with a friend who has given up on life and is talking about ending at all?
This seminar will give you some practical answers to these and other questions you may have as you care for your hurting friend.

Biblical-Based Justice – Justice as a Reflection of God's Heart
Presented by: Bethany Nolson
When we hear the word ‘justice’ in our world today we often think about law and order, right vs. wrong, perpetrator vs. victim. Or we think of justice in terms of social action; protests, petitions, and social change for broken and exploitative systems. Both of these are important aspects of justice, but Biblical justice is much deeper and richer.
Biblical justice is rooted, modeled, and embodied by Jesus and a direct reflection of God’s own heart.
Through the entire story of the Bible, from Genesis through Revelation, God paints this beautiful picture of justice, peace, and restoration coming into the most broken places. And God himself invites us to be part of bringing justice into this world and allows us to experience His heart in deep and profound ways as we do. Justice is more than a buzzword, it is a rich story of the God of justice who invites his people to be justice bringers in the world.
